The class will begin with a short yin prep before moving into a more dynamic rocket practice. Both practices have the same 'function over form' principle, so this class is all about how the poses feel in your body and not how they look! Never practiced Yin before Rocket? Well, you're in for a treat as the held yin poses at the start allow the body's connective tissues (the fascia) to soften and enable the flow of 'chi' or 'prana' to move more freely, which is a wonderful way of preparing the body and mind for the more dynamic flow of the rocket. Come with a beginners mind, and expect to have fun and sweat a little bit on the way! What's down has got to come up and what's up has got to come down, so you'll get to experience a well rounded practice during this 75 minute class.
Justine teaches a traditional style of yoga, guided by motivating music with a strong, steady beat. Her classes place a strong emphasis on bandha (energy locks), breath, and drishti (focused gaze), with plenty of opportunities to explore arm balances and inversions. Having trained with three of Rocket Yoga founder Larry Schultzs most experienced students and teacher training facilitators, Justine teaches classic Rocket Yoga while wholeheartedly embracing the Rocket philosophy of "Function over form." Her Vinyasa classes are deeply rooted in Ashtanga Yoga, with variations and modifications to suit all body types and levels. In contrast, her Yin Yoga classes create a deeply stilling experience, holding space for students to fully relax and find their edge in each position. Justine has completed extensive training in Ashtanga Vinyasa with advanced Ashtanga practitioner Ryan Spielman, Rocket Yoga 1 & 2 with Amber Jean and Amme Poulton at The Rocket Yoga Academy USA/Triyoga, and upper-level courses in Rocket and Yin Pattern Work & Philosophy with The Yoga People. She has also trained in Breathwork with Within Yoga School, covering functional breathing, pranayama, and Conscious Connected Breathwork. Her love of music led her to complete 4-Beat x Ableton Live: Music and Yoga with Marcus Veda and Hannah Whittingham at The Good Life Yoga School. Justine continues her professional development through advanced Rocket Yoga, Ashtanga practice, and energy studies with Amme Poulton/Raja Rocket/Rocket Yoga Academy. Her yoga journey began in 1998 with regular Ashtanga, Hatha, and Iyengar practices before she followed her calling to teach. As someone who initially struggled with flexibility, she understands what it feels like to be in a room full of naturally bendy people. Over the past three decades, Justine has combined her passion for yoga and yoga philosophyincluding Tantrawith her interest in anatomy, to create a distinctive Vinyasa style. Her classes are designed to empower students to trust their inner strength and embrace the process. For Justine, yoga is not about achieving perfect poses but about embarking on a lifelong journey of growth, patience, and self-discovery.
