Feeling Anxious in Day-to-Day Life? 3 Ways to Help It Pass

Anxiety is something many of us experience, especially in our fast-paced world. Whether it's work stress, personal pressures, or simply the feeling that life is moving too quickly, anxiety can creep in and leave us feeling overwhelmed and disconnected. Well, that’s what we’re here for. Here are three practical steps we recommend taking to ease the tension and find our way back to calm.

If you're feeling anxious lately, know that you're not alone. Here are three simple, effective ways to help your anxiety pass—and how attending our upcoming Mind Body Spirit Festival in Birmingham between 15-17th November could be a transformative part of your journey to peace.

1. Pause and Breathe Deeply

One of the easiest and most effective ways to calm your mind in moments of anxiety is by focusing on your breath. When we’re anxious, our breath becomes shallow and rapid, which signals to our body that we’re in danger—even when we aren’t.

Try this box breathing technique. Place your hand on your stomach and take a deep breath in through your nose for a count of four. Hold for four, then exhale slowly for another count of four. Repeat this process until you feel an energetic shift in your body.

2. Get Moving

One of the quickest ways to shift your mood is by moving your body. Exercise can distract you from the repetitive thoughts that often fuel anxiety. A brisk walk in nature, a short yoga session, or even dancing around your living room helps release the built-up energy that anxiety often creates, leaving you feeling lighter and more balanced.

At our upcoming MBS festival, we’ll be offering a variety of movement-based workshops, from yoga and burlesque to ballet dance-based movement and tantric exercises. These are perfect opportunities to get in touch with your body, release stress, and find grounding in movement and new friends.

3. Connect with others at a powerful workshop

Anxiety can make us feel isolated, as though we’re the only ones going through tough times. But we’ve come to know the opposite is true – it's when we come together to learn and bear our vulnerabilities that we become the strongest.

Whether it’s through group workshops, healing circles, or casual conversations that happen by chance in our Chill Out Space, ours is a safe space to connect, share, and support one another. Going deeper in our 75-minute workshop with Dr Lalitaa Suglani on 16th November at 1.45pm is where you’re sure to find the empowering tools you’re looking for.
